Thanks, sps. I doubt that the old ship is still there. Its looks well on the way out in this shot. I hope the area isn't too sanitised now. A lot of old ports' character comes from scenes like this.

I did in fact think to myself last night that, from what I could remember of my visit to King's Lynn last year, this area is a lot "tidier" now - and arguably too tidy. I've now found the photo that I took last summer and posted it in "another place": www.flickr.com/photos/40878011@N07/15292870919 . There are a few artfully placed anchors on the quayside but it did feel rather sterile.

I suppose it's inevitable that people want things neat and tidy. Even our old abandoned coaster down at Newhaven was gradually being taken apart, but the scrap metal merchants, who have been given it if they cut it up, seem to have lost interest.
