Erasmus .. The Winged Dragon ...

Erasmus .. The Winged Dragon ...
Read the t-shirt !

My name is Erasmus .. ( to love )
25 ft long
10 ft wide
8 ft tall
3600 lbs

Lots of room for children to climb or sit and read books (the Library is just around the corner) -

Given a Police Escort from his place of creation to this grassy area because of his size.

Smiley Derleth, Diane Putnam, William Sutherland, raingirl and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo

Lost the Children's Museum ? That is horrid..

This is a small town, but the Children's Museum is always busy; The Arts Center (an historic house built by Edwin Holt [ in the late 1y700's ] for one of his daughters ..is on the same grounds .. along with sculptures.
Some remain at the Children's Museum - others make their way around the County
I knew Erasmus, the Dragon, was coming to the Museum - I just took a chance that he was there - so glad he was and that the girls were enjoying him.

Had to add for you - in Florida, where we lived for many, many year - there is a Children's Museum -- an interactive one where they have a grocery store; a bank and other businesses where the children can 'work'.
All the walls have been hand painted. A local artist went through each floor and put various scenes on the wall ... then, fixed them so the children could paint them .... it was a paint-by-number work of art.
When on entered the Museum, look up and a huge work of art was suspended from the ceiling. All items donated were toys from the children. The museum had to have engineers work with them as to where to suspend it from the ceiling.

Our city couldn't believe it closed. The board acted irresponsibly. Many other museum places that had to close temporarily this last year figured out how to get the funding needed to make it through - the board simply didn't bother and didn't seem to care. They didn't let the community know until after they had made their decision. This city would have rallied and donated and kept it open - but we weren't given a chance. We even tried to get lawyers and politicians involved, but because the board acted so quickly without public notice we were too late.

The museum was founded in 1946!!!!!! 75 years and the board just gave up.

We do have a much smaller children's place - hopefully they can flourish and take over where the Children's museum has left a hole. And it gets worse, there was a long standing charter school (based in Regio Emilia pedigy) that was associated with the museum and it got disolved along with the museum - the teachers and parents were all left in the lurch at the last second as this only happened about 6 weeks ago.
