I am so happy to see your photo, Pam, and to see you are exploring outside at least a little. I puzzled whether this might be a painted lady, but after many glances back and fort in Brock & Kaufman, I am sure your identification is correct. The map shows their range does extend to central OK in some cases. Awaiting more good news from Oklahoma.

Hello my dear! Steve sends his hugs too and we are wishing you the very best in these broiling hot August days straight out of Hades! :D

I am happy to report that Steve's leg is 100% and has been now since the last week of our trip! :) We couldn't be happier! He had some weakness for a few days after it was feeling better, but now he's good as new. YAY!

As for *ME*...I began experiencing a sore spot on my right foot...you know, the sort of thing that goes away after an hour or a day. But not this one. It stayed around and gradually got worse, to the point that in the last week of our trip I only went out to walk around a few times. Since I got back I've been sitting with foot elevated and only very, very slowly has this strange injury begun to heal. Today--about two weeks since I first felt the soreness--I'm at about 85% healed. Not going to walk around unless necessary, and the inactivity is really helping. Did some reading and learned I probably have a minor stress fracture from constant activity. I didn't know such a thing could happen--I thought fractures happened only with an obvious injury, not overuse. Usually happens to people participating in high-impact sports or ballet/dancing but also to people who just overdo it. Odd because I really haven't been all that active, but I guess it was enough. Anyway, foot's raised and healing! :) Sending big hugs your way!

Hi, Pam. It's very hot and dry here and I would imagine it is the same there. Hope you are weathering the heat. For us it's such a change from the other side of the mountains and I would imagine that you, having been raised in England, find it oppressive also.
