I have always wanted to pat furry bees, but I know better than to do that.

The bumblies are very benign really..... I have had them stroke the lens with their foot and stroke me. I have a neice who when small always was able to "charm'' bees...

Approached and handled with care... they are fine. Its also something not to be taken for granted !! They have "bad days" too !

Marj... this is taken with the Sony HX400V.. so its the fixed lens... and it means getting in reallllllll close !!!!

I have the Sony a65 too and several lenses.. and I hate the macro lens on that ans it hates me !

Hurricane rain... luckily not as bad as many.. but enough to shut down any chance of doing anything till Tuesday.. and I go home Thursday.

Oh, how I wish y'all could have seen Pam J following him around ! That is a story in itself ... was sure she was going to touch him with her lens ... she was ThaT close !
At times, it is much more interesting to watch Pam than the visitors on the flowers !

A note I forgot about: Male Carpenter Bees have no stinger. They can be extremely loud -- trying to scare one off where they happen to be .. but, if you get just the right angle - there is a white spot on the forehead..
