Green June Beetle (Cotinus nitida)

Green June Beetle (Cotinus nitida)
This year the "plentiful" insect has been these Green June Beetles !

These three started a a bunch of maybe 10 surrounding the female and rolling at speed around on the ground under the Photonia (they seem to like that !) It was just a blur ! Finally these three sayed still long enough to play at Just Good Friends !

This brings back not-so-great memories of when I was playing an outdoor concert and the June bugs were mating. They would try to fly while mating - each bug aiming in a different direction. I was whacked in the head repeatedly by pairs of bugs throughout the concert. My husband found it amusing to watch me shriek and swat at them.
