Tiefseemonster

Tiefseemonster
Fangzahn (PiP), gesehen im Meeresmuseum Stralsund

The common fangtooth (Anoplogaster cornuta)
With its huge teeth the fangtooth looks like a real monster. However, the species does not grow larger than 20cm.
The fangtooth lives in the deep sea in depths up to 5000m and feeds on shrimps and fish. With its huge mouth it can swallow prey which is very big compared to its own body.
