PC ("pussy cat") in the garden. She likes to hide in the long grass and feign attacks on insects, which – given their ability to fly – are generally somewhat over-equipped to escape her fairly un-fierce efforts. Nevertheless she performs this ritual with pride and dignity. And of course, she distinctly resembles "le chat noir"...

Sarah, Mhairi, me & Vicky, somewhere amidst the Frank Sinatra sing-along, the kamikaze cocktails, and Troy. Go Brad! Get a backbone Orlando!
Taken with a stupendous bit of balancing of a cameraphone on a till receipt and a coaster, providing a bonus reflection which looked utterly convincing on the phone's screen... ;)
(And uploaded from that phone — woohoo, it works!)
Muralling (well it should be a word)
|
|
Brian painted a fantastic mural at the Aratta community centre in Chernihiv, Ukraine. It's based on a horse from the antique Carousel on Brighton seafront.
After we'd finished and gone home, a local art teacher encouraged children to continue the theme around the other three walls of the room. The result blends perfectly and has made a grey room into an incredibly colourful, fun place.
We support the centre, which runs many projects to help the victims of Chernobyl, in Ukraine. Find out about it, and support us at www.aidconvoy.net

This is the statue where I met Ewan McGregor! ;)
It's stunningly impressive, two riders on horseback stretching out right across the road (some way after Lvov, heading east for Kiev.)
You gape in wonderment that the Soviet bolts (connected only at the rearmost hooves) are still holding. Then gape again when you see the detail of the panel-beating.

Just uploading some random things I like. This is from the Glastonbury festival in 1995 — one of the most gloriously sunny years.

Meg in "The Meeting House", Sussex Uni

Accidental but cool. The colours are real; Sussex's Meeting House by Basil Spence is a drum with wonderful 60s colours in the glass breeze-blocks which are spaced all around. The room itself is clever and can be easily transformed into a meeting space for any (or no) religion.
Pretty much all I did was edge detection when trying to sharpen it a bit, and wow, what an effect.

We'd just arrived. We're standing on the edge of a bomb crater, trepidatious before entering the capital city just days after NATO stopped bombing.

Some kids in the Skanderaj region of Kosova. We were thronged every time we stopped; fascinating weird foreigners, blundering through people still revelling in the joy of the end of the war. Notice the sneaky fag in one kid's hand. They were about 1DM a packet.

I guess this never goes on the main roads any more; look closely, there's still a communist star on the number plate.

I love this capture. It's in Rome airport, returning home without Truck after the epic weeks in Kosova (Kosovo) during July & August 1999. ( www.aidconvoy.net )
Taken with an old manual Nikon (can't remember which model) on Kodak Tri-X.
You can also see a test strip from the darkroom, which I really like - accidental art! - here .
