Our decorator should be finished by Friday afternoon but we still have to organise new carpets .........hopefully we'll get that done next week. Just have to decide which room to have done next :-))

Funny you should mention the name your Father called them............I did a bit of research and it seems that Colly is an old word meaning black, and that in the song "The 12 days of Christmas" the original lyrics were "4 colly birds.........which became 4 calling birds". Apparently Colly (black) birds were a popular delicacy at the time and were prized at meals such as you have at Christmas.

Who knew?

Hope the decorators do a really good job. This is a lovely picture of this male blackbird - he's standing there all proud, isn't he?

She's doing fine Jenny............although she''ll be running a day late as she had to take her son to. hospital today following a bad cut to his hand which became infected. He's OK, but she missed half a day's work. That's no problem at all for us retired folk, we can pretty much be around any day.

Anyway............glad you like this shot of the blackbird, especially as you pointed out, he posed very nicely for me. Many thanks.

Beautifully captured Keith. When there was a vote for Britain's favourite bird, I voted for the Blackbird, but I'm not too disappointed that the robin won.
