Farlington Marshes (+ PiP)

A view across the marshes taken last Sunday morning. The silhouetted people are walking along the sea wall.

Another view, looking in the other direction (towards Portsmouth) is in the PiP. You will also get an idea of how many geese were around that day.

Thanks Annemarie..........but mainly geese and ducks. I did see a Kestrel, but it was too far away for a decent shot, although I tried. It was a pleasure to see it though.

Two superb pictures Keith. I love the silhouetted people in your main shot. The blue of the water and the lighter shade of the sky looks really beautiful. You have some lovely places to visit near you. I had to look Farlington Marshes up, and I see that it has many walks and the land was actually reclaimed from the harbour in 1771.

Thank you Rosa..............your comments are very generous as always.

The marshes are a super place, very popular with walkers and especially bird watchers (and us photographers of course). It also has a resident herd of cattle including some highland coos ;-)

My mate (who I go with) is a volunteer warden, so I have a good guide too!

It has an interesting history, here's a shot I took there a while ago:

Fabulous photos. There were absolutely loads of geese etc there wasn't there? I'm glad you had decent weather when you went there.

Geese by the hundreds Jenny.............but not much else on this day...........it normally has a wide variety of birds, but they were all quite sensibly hiding somewhere warm ;-). Glad you like the photos, and thank you.
