This is a "purple" finch from last spring. I just love his rosy color (you can see the Mrs. below.)

Beautiful bird well photographed! I didn't remember seeing the purple finch around Portland, so I looked it up and saw that in oregon is lives further south! Ah well, I get to enjoy it through your photo instead.

I'd love to have this in my group 'my favorite animals' - if you want.

[And thanks for linking to both version of 'free as a bird'. The video is one of my all time favorites. I remember being happy when I had it in the house and could pause it to catch all the great images that were there as well as play it through lots.]

An excellent and very beautiful shot. Gorgeous color, light, and feather details, and a wonderful dark background. I have long thought that the major difference between humans and other animals is that the male non-human animal is the more beautiful sex whereas in humans it is the female that is the beautiful one.
