The Peugeot 402 Eclipse (1935) was the first one.

It really took away from the trunk space and Ford quality was kind of weak back then!

Yes, the trunk space was sure compromised on the Ford, that's for sure.

Most ideas are not that original ... and were maybe a bit impractical, or too expensive when they were conceived, but they tend to resurface from time-to-time.
