Brick House

15 Sep 2016 18 33 620
TSC and Sight and Sound This Sunday's Challenge: Mail Boxes Because of vandalism you can never be sure what will happen to your precious mail box here in the U.S. which is why there aren't many that are decorated or celebrated anymore. I think whoever lives here at 7870 Lake View Drive figured out a pretty good solution to this problem unless someone has some dynamite. ;) The Commodores: Live: Brick House Album: Brick House or Brick House Lionel Richie Live: Brick House

Taboo Tattoo

03 Sep 2016 11 20 537
This Sunday's Challenge: "The Writing's on the Wall" One form could be "graffiti" and this is the graffiti I chose. "Graffiti (plural of graffito: "a graffito", but "these graffiti") are writing or drawings that have been scribbled, scratched, or painted illicitly on a wall or other surface, often within public view." This is one of the many tattoos on my husband's arms (given the "mirror" treatment in PicMonkey and a "Dutch Tilt") and done "illicitly" when he was much younger. His very dear (yet religious and domineering) mother wouldn't see them until many years later... Don't worry, she managed to survive. :D And a song from Led Zepplin's "Physical Graffiti" album (1975) Live Plant and Page (1994): Kashmir Album: Kashmir

Your Kiss...

27 Aug 2016 15 38 561
TSC and Sight and Sound This week's Sunday Challenge: Bird/Birds What a totally dead week for birds here. I went out several times and could find nothing. They must all be in meetings about the autumn migration. ;) I had to go to the pet shop for cat food so I took advantage of their "Fancy Parakeets" that were on display and embraced in a kiss. Hall n Oates from their album "Voices" (1980) Kiss On My List Kiss On My List

Oh Deer...

20 Aug 2016 18 35 762
TSC Sight and Sound This week's Sunday Challenge: “Shoot something from 3 different angles. Convert the 3 pictures to monochrome (doesn’t have to be B&W) and arrange them in a triptych.” I chose B&W because I thought it suited these photos the best. This sweet doe comes through our yard often. We talk to her and she knows she is welcome, so she is the feature for me this week. She is so sweet and deer always make me think of love and kindness so here's a song to go along, of course.... Junior's Farm

16 Jul 2016 8 31 384
TSC and Sight and Sound This week's challenge: There were 2 choices this week. I chose the first one. (I wasn't having much luck with the second choice although I did give it a try.) The 1st choice: "Use the random point generator. Set your co-ordinates and select 1 point. You can decide how far away you will be prepared to go in miles or kilometers. Go to the point and take a new photo." The location the "generator" gave me was at a private residence so I went across the street to our local "Feed Store" and shot this mural that is on the side of the old building. This building has been here forever and this mural has already been repainted once. The mural is watched over by a big plastic horse (which should give an idea of the kind of town this is. ;) For those of you that might not know what a "Feed Store" is, it is a place where you can get "feed" for your farm animals such as hay and oats for your horses, goats, pigs etc. You can also get farm tools and even some machinery like a small tractor. You can get a lot of things at a Feed Store, actually, this one even sells ducks, chicks, bunnies and guinea pigs. Wings from their Hit Single (1974) Junior's Farm Junior's Farm Junior's Farm

TSC Sight and Sound "Something that Used to be Something Else" This "duck perch" use to be a big log. Mr. and Mrs. Hooded Merganser are enjoying a rest there. They were about 200 feet (61 meters) away from me so I used my big 100-300mm lens for this shot without my tripod. ~ Looks best BIG ~ Robert Plant from "The Principle of Moments" album (1983) Big Log or Big Log
