Dandy Longlegs

When I was a kid, 60 or 65 years ago, these were called Dandy Longlegs. By the time I reached high-school, I knew that a lot of my friends preferred Daddy Longlegs, and some friends were adamant that the only "real" name was crane fly. For the most part, I gave in.
But I've gone back to calling them Dandy Longlegs. Reclaiming the authenticity of my childhood, like.
This was the first I saw this season. It was inside a plastic tent we overnight plants in. I suspect the higher temperature in there awoke this guy.

I think the use of the name for a long-legged spider is quite common through North America. But not here in Newfoundland.
