Ladder

Ladder
I think my father never bought a ladder in his life. He *made* them,
always out of scraps of wood lying around. This was one of his.

I learnt the habit myself and used homemade ladders until once, a
couple of years after I took this picture (in June 1989), I went up one of his older
and longer ladders to take down a big wooden storm window on the
second storey of his house. And just when I got the window into my
arms at the top of the ladder, the rung I stood on gave way. Of course
so did the next one, and all the others, until I found myself standing
on the ground shaken, bruised, a little abraded and cut up from nails
and splinters in the ladder, and holding the window intact. His
ladder became firewood, or compost, more likely.

I soon got my own first store-bought ladder.

This was Kodak Plus-X in my Bessa 6x9 camera. I probably used T-Max
developer but I am not sure.
