Bedroom, rented house, overlooking an ancestor's island

We spent a weekend with friends in this old (though modernised) house
a few weeks ago and this was our bedroom. The view from the bed out
the window overlooked Fox Island where, I have been told by older
people in my family, a direct ancestor lived in the late 1600s or
early 1700s. According to the story, he died a suspicious death,
having been found dead at the bottom of the cliffs.
I was reading when I noticed the view and took this picture with the
iPad. It isn't a really subtle camera so I had to increase the dark
areas to get any detail there at all. I took advantage of that
editing to do a little more local contrast and to build the border.
This is a tiny version of the slightly larger original.
I understand the geological term for such an island, joined by a beach
to the mainland, is a tombolo.
