a chance encounter

I'm still itching to get more exposure with the new macro lens, so finding this bug on the firewood gave me a chance to put it to the test. My eyesight isn't what it used to be, and I'm finding that I have trouble judging my focus. Of the 30 shots I took, only two were acceptable.
This looks like some kind of longhorn beetle and was the size of a carpenter ant.
