oh damn, that can't be good! I like the look of these but some people sure don't... and others say they make them sick.

They have gotten to be a problem when they are built too close to people between the noise and the light strobing. Same thing they use to torture people? They sure polarize a community too! I expect them to be zoned out of existence. They also eat up a lot of farm ground with their footprint and access roads. Interesting documentary here:

Surprising find

Visually I find them appealing, but there are areas of the country I'd ban them from and I certainly wouldn't want to live near to them ... guess that makes me a NIMBY! ;)

I don't think they should be around people and they have quite a ways to go before replacing the coal fired plants!

My neighbor has some windmills just across the street and generates electricity for his home. I can't see what the real problem is. People have accepted noise near their residences for as long as there have been cities. I don't know any big city that is quiet. Trash trucks, traffic, crowds, taxi cabs - people seem to accept the noise there. But, why not these? These are proving electricity and an alternative to other methods of generating it. Why do most people blindly accept progress, but will not tolerate these?
