Mind the Gap
The most North Easterly point on the Mainland this is the Geo of Sclaites on Ducansby Head, Caithness Scotland, The old Red Sandstone cliffs are are home to many seabirds including Puffin.
Another day in the virtual journey following the route of the "North Coast 500 Group" ,
A large large view may be an advantage.
Misty Stacks
An atmospheric view of the Duncansby Sea Stacks captured from Duncansby Head
This was taken quite late in the day and the evening sea mist had started to arrive,
16.9 therefore a large view may be better
North East Corner
The most North Easterly Lighthouse on the UK Mainland is the Duncansby Head Lighthouse the tower was builtin 1924 under the supervision of David Stevenson, A large view will reveal the two Pentland Skerries lighthouses on the island of Muckle Skerry,
These are just three of many that protect shipping in the Pentland Firth.
Inner Harbour
A second day in the Wick area on our tour around the North West 500, taking the virtual trip anti clockwise while Herb does the same trip clockwise,
This is the inner harbour at Wick on a really warm June day.
Lifeboat.
The RNLI lifeboat 14-20 (Roy Barker II) moored in Wick Harbour,
Wick is a town in the far north of Scotland and is home to the most northerly mainland distillery ( Old Paulteney) and a fine malt it is!
Moving on to Ducansby Head tomorrow.
High on a Cliff
Today we are in the district of Wick, Caithness not in the town itself but a large bay on the outskirts,
This image shows defensive position of Sinclair Girnigoe Castle, with a backdrop of Sinclair Bay.
Today images are fro 2011 therefore quality may suffer a little

Way Out
The entrance and exit to Lybster Harbour in Caithness, Scotland,
The Lighthouse dates from 1884 and the ropes hanging over the wall are keeping shellfish and
Crustaceans fresh until the lorry collects, because of the distance they don't call every day.
HFF and a good week
