World Photography Day

World Photography Day
As the image displays it turned out to be a damp and dismal day down here on the Somerset Levels,
However we braved the wind and rain to get a few ( very few) shots before retiring to a nearby coffee shop.

It may stand a large view

Smiley Derleth, Eric Desjours, Deborah Lundbech, Paolo Tanino and 37 other people have particularly liked this photo

Well captured Roger despite the weather. I like the long grasses around the water and the bales in the field. Nice perspective and contrasts. A lovely shot

It seems like your weather was pretty much the same as ours Roger..........I gave up trying to get a decent landscape shot and made do with photographing flowers..........but you did well to persevere!

Despite the featureless sky, you've still got some fairly decent light and some nice detail and colour in the landscape. The water makes a lovely leading line. I note the hay bales, but don't you find it annoying when they wrap them up........not a thought for us photographers :-)))

I hope you didn't get too wet and that you enjoyed your coffee!

Many thanks for the terrific comments Keith, I don't mind a bit of alternative weather, but the strong wind and rain combination was a bit much!
Coffee and a scone won the day very quickly.;-))
p.s all the other fields had unwrapped bales, may well pop back later in the week, weather permitting.

Hi Roger
I like this picture very much!
It is a very different and exciting composition, and a great match to Carol's picture.
Fantastic colours too, especially considering the sunlight available!
Best Wishes, HWPD,, and stay safe!!

because of the lack of pollution the light on the levels is generally very good even when the weather is not at its best!

I'm glad you braved the weather. I quite enjoy seeing this scene, and large one appreciates the textures in the grasses even more. I hope the coffee was plenty warm!

Did doing this for the event feel a bit more like an adventure than other photography days for you?

Thank you Laura, I have been intending to participate for a number of years but life has a way of changing intentions, however this year we went despite the weather and managed a few shots before a ragged retreat in the face of wind driven rain.
We will be back again next time !

Still you captured beautiful grasses, reeds, and a classic British field horizon - to say nothing of the feel of wet, drenching weather.
I'm surprised to see the hay baled with black plastic. A big improvement on the white marshmallow types we always see here, I think!

Roger (Grisly) club has replied to Deborah Lundbech club
Interesting comments Deborah, thank you,
Oddly enough in all the other fields bales were unwrapped, waiting to be collected for barn storage perhaps.
