Yes, when these poles went up society started changing much more quickly, I remember being struck in the 1980s by how when the hydro went off at work no one could work.

Well, this is just stagnation, Marko. Putting the wires undergroumd would save enormous amponts of time amd money needed to deal with ice storms, and it would reduce the danger of them, too. But Torontonians have been too cheap to do it.
