We actually watched D.O.A. not that long ago (meaning: probably less than two years), My memory being the sieve it is these days I barely remember any of it.
The noble pursuit of shooting without a permit (also known as guerilla shooting) has been practiced by low-budget movies for as long as movies have existed. In my Hollywood days, it was something of a dare among my friends what they could get away with. And nowadays, with movies being shot on iphones, the permit business must have shriveled down to a puddle.

They're all shot in Canada these days, anyway, Sarah. Of all the movies I've watched in my long life the only one I have any substantial memory of is The Best Years of Our Lives. I was going to add Lou Costello and Sidney Fields doing the "Niagara Falls" sketch, but that's from TV.
