Shovel away

Shovel away
This winter, we have had over 8 feet of snow. Ice dams and roof collapses from the snow and cold have occurred so people have been paying roofers $100-$200 per man hour to shovel their roofs. It is very expensive but it is far cheaper that repairing a collapsed roof, and the work on the icy roofs is very dangerous. This man repeatedly slipped and would have fallen off the roof numerous times but for the rope holding him which was tied to a tree on the other side of the house.

The issues of a cold, snowy winter ... makes me shiver to just think of it ... or just look out the window here. The crews have cleared the roads here in town and they worked long and hard at it. The guy on the roof is nuts! Hope you get better weather soon.

We have had so much snow that the mayor of Boston had to ask people not to jump out of their second floor windows into it. We drive through snow canyons and two way streets are reduced to one lane. It has been a most interesting winter.

Two people have died this winter from falling off roofs that they were trying to clear - and these were professionals.
