View north over Ofnethöhlen quarry

Ries Meteorite Crater Geopark.

View north over the abandoned Ofnethöhlen quarry (mainly Jurassic limestones) located on part of the 'mega-block' zone of allochtonous rocks shunted laterally by the force of the meteorite impact. The village of Riesbürg is visible in the centre. The flat-topped hill on the skyline is the Ipfberg, a bronze- and iron-age hill fort near the town of Bopfingen.
