Gorgeous, Carol! I found the Hebridean sheep irresistible. Here in Australia we mostly have fat woolly mérinos, and with our dry, dusty summers it is rare to see a white sheep...they tend more to a yellow/grey/red complexion depending on the colour of the dust in their home landscapes. The well washed UK sheep are refreshing to an Antipodean eye!

THEY REMIND ME OF CUMBRIAM HERDWICK SHEEP

Thank you very much Pam. Really appreciated. I always think of Herdwick sheep as Beatrix Potter sheep! She left her farms and land and Herdwick sheep to the National Trust. The fells farrms were to be rented at a reasonable cost and only pure bred Herdwick sheep should be kept.

Great portraits and, as Diana mentioned, quite unlike almost all the sheep here. I was interested in the 'earrings' which look very much like the eartags used here - they identify the animal and property, which helps for tracking any animal health issues.

The sheep would probably be happy to take off its "earrings" if it could. :))

Two super portraits of the fine sheep of Skye Carol. I love the facial expressions, almost seem to be saying 'take your photograph and be on your way tourist.' The sheep of Skye and presumably other Western Isles sheep always seem to be so clean, must be all the regular showers of rain that they enjoy
