Kirkham Bridge spans the River Derwent (Plus 1 x PiP & 1 x note)

Kirkham Bridge spans the River Derwent (Plus 1 x PiP & 1 x note)
Constructed in 1806. By John Carr. The bridge has one pointed arch and two segmental arches divided by cutwaters forming refuges on the narrow road. Now grade II listed.

NIce to see that at the rail crossing the barriers stop the trains, not the cars. This can only work when train speeds are very low, e.g. during shunting.

Thanks very much for your visit Erhard. The railway line follows the winding course of the river in this area so the trains (small local ones) travel at a fairly slow speed.
