Shwenandaw Kyaung

Built in 1880 by King Thibaw Min and originally part of the Royal Palace complex. Min relocated it believing it was haunted, after his father (King Mindon Min) died in it. Decorated with teak carvings of Buddhist myths, but was originally heavily gilt with gold and adorned with glass mosaic. Also known as The Golden Palace Monastery and due to its removal is the only surviving building of the Royal Palace, which was bombed in WWII.
