Auch wenn der Bunker heute nicht mehr genutzt wird, kann man sich das Ganze gut vorstellen. Erst 1987 endete für 7 BR50 Maschinen hier der aktive Dienst. Zu den betreuten Fahrzeugen gehörten aber auch die Hartmann-Loks 38 205 und 75 515 und die für den Chemnitzer Raum typischen Lokomotiven der Baureihen 44, 58 und 86. Da war so ein Bunker notwendig.
