This morning after getting up, the moon in the morning sky smiled at me so beautifully that I photographed it again. This time with aperture 11 (instead of 8). I also applied a few tricks in image processing. So the combination of NIKON D7500 and Tamron SP 150-600 is apparently exhausted. At least until further notice . . . Diesmal mit Blende 11 (statt 8). Außerdem habe ich noch ein paar Kniffe in der Bildbearbeitung angewendet. Damit ist die Kombination aus NIKON D7500 und Tamron SP 150-600 augenscheinlich ausgereizt. The rather mediocre quality of the full moon photo from 12 July spurred me on to find out what else is possible with my equipment. The Full Moon on July 12, 2022. I used the telephoto zoom TAMRON SP 150-600 mm again. I used my NIKON D 7500 as camera. I took the photos tonight at 2:30 am. The moon was 27 degrees above the horizon, much higher than during my full moon session. The thermal turbulence of the atmosphere is less under these circumstances, but was still clearly visible in the camera loupe. In order to get a photographic grip on the turbulence, I took series shots again. With the D 7500, one can programme these with the self-timer. Packages of up to 9 shots are possible. In this way, 206 photos in RAW format were taken in a relatively short time with little effort. To keep the memory requirements low, I set the smallest possible sensor format (18x12) beforehand. (The shooting data was lost during stacking: ISO-100, F/8, 1/200 sec, 600 mm.) Because the moon moves, and the camera position changes slightly with each release, the moon is in a slightly different position in all the pictures. With the freeware PIPP , however, one can centre the images with little effort. Beforehand, the RAW files were converted into TIFF files with Lightroom. I prefer Lightroom for this, because one can adjust the parameters of the RAW development most sensitively there. PIPP sortiert die Bilder gleich nach Qualität. I merged the 25 best ones with the astro-stacking software Registax 6 . The final processing (brightness, contrast, sharpness) was done in Photoshop. The result shows a clear improvement over the full moon picture taken on July 12: Capture in full size The image size of the moon on the sensor is 1285 x 1285 pixels. For this, the result is satisfactory. Theoretically, 10% sharpness can still be tickled out by stopping down the lens to f/11. And at a higher PoV, the atmospheric turbulence is less on cold days. The Edelweißspitze on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is very popular with astrophotographers. You can drive up to 2,571 m above sea level and stay overnight. Juli hat mich angespornt, herauszufinden, was mit meinem Equipment noch möglich ist. Das Vollmondfoto vom 12. Juli 2022. Als Objektiv habe wieder das Telezoom TAMRON SP 150-600 mm verwendet. Als Kamera habe ich meine NIKON D 7500 hergenommen. Fotografiert habe ich heute Nacht um 2:30 Uhr. Der Mond stand 27 Grad über dem Horizont, also deutlich höher als bei meiner Vollmond-Session. Die thermischen Verwirbelungen der Atmosphäre sind unter diesen Umständen zwar geringer, waren in der Kameralupe aber immer noch deutlich sichtbar. Um die Verwirbelungen fotografisch in den Griff zu bekommen, habe ich wieder Serienaufnahmen angefertigt. Diese kann man bei der D 7500 praktischerweise über den Selbstauslöser programmieren. Dabei sind Pakete mit bis zu 9 Aufnahmen möglich. So entstanden in relativ kurzer Zeit mit wenig Aufwand 206 Fotos im RAW-Format. Um den Speicherplatzbedarf gering zu halten, habe ich zuvor das kleinstmögliche Sensor-Format (18x12) eingestellt. (Die Aufnahmedaten sind beim Stacking verlorengegangen: ISO-100, F/8, 1/200 sec, 600 mm) Weil der Mond wandert, und sich bei jedem Auslösevorgang die Kameraposition etwas verändert, befindet sich der Mond auf allen Bildern an einer etwas anderen Stelle. Mit der Freeware PIPP kann man die Bilder aber mit wenig Aufwand zentrieren. Zuvor wurden die RAW-Dateien mit Lightroom in TIFF-Dateien umgewandelt. Ich bevorzuge dafür Lightroom, weil man die Parameter der RAW-Entwicklung dort am feinfühligsten einstellen kann. PIPP sortiert die Bilder gleich nach Qualität. Ich habe die 25 besten davon mit der Astro-Stacking-Software Registax 6 zusammengeführt. Die Endbearbeitung (Helligkeit, Kontrast, Schärfe) erfolgte in Photoshop. Das Ergebnis zeigt eine deutliche Verbesserung gegenüber der Vollmond-Aufnahme vom 12. Juli: Aufnahme in Originalgröße Die Abbildungsgröße des Mondes auf dem Sensor ist 1285 x 1285 Pixel. Dafür ist das Ergebnis zufriedenstellend. Theoretisch lassen sich durch Abblenden des Objektivs auf Blende 11 noch 10% Schärfe herauskitzeln. Und an einem höher gelegenen PoV sind an kalten Tagen die atmosphärischen Turbulenzen geringer. Bei Astrofotografen ist die Edelweißspitze an der Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße sehr beliebt. Man kann dort mit dem Auto bis auf 2.571 m Seehöhe hinauf fahren und hat eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit.
