Hohenschwangau (Bavaria, Germany) is Neuschwanstein's neighbouring castle. "Fairytale King" Ludwig II grew up there. The oldest female participant (70) was always hot on my heels. She crossed the finish line 10 seconds later: 26th place in the 'rucksack' class, 1:27:23 h . So join the queue and wait until it goes on. All in all, the jam and the 'slip' cost me almost 10 minutes. ~~~~~ Also brav einreihen und warten, bis es weiter geht. Insgesamt hat mich der Stau und der 'Ausrutscher ' fast 10 Minuten gekostet.

The "mousetrap" enlarged. Of course, I didn't want to be stuck in a traffic jam. I bravely tried to get up the ice. Instead of gaining five minutes, I lost nearly ten and now know what it feels like to hurtle downhill. ~~~~~ Die "Mausefalle" vergrößert. Ich wollte natürlich nicht im Stau stehen. Mutig hab ich versucht, auf dem Eis hochzukommen. Statt 5 Minuten zu gewinnen, hab ich fast zehn verloren und weiß nun, wie es sich anfühlt, talwärts zu sausen.

The biggest challenge: the "mousetrap". Totally icy on the left. Hence the single file and the traffic jam at the top. If you overtake without toothy crampons, you have the best chance of hurtling down the slope on the seat of your trousers. ~~~~~ Die größte Herausforderung: die "Mausefalle". Links total vereist. Deshalb der Gänsemarsch und der Stau am oberen Ende. Wer ohne zahnige Steigeisen überholt, hat beste Chancen, den Hang auf dem Hosenboden abwärts zu sausen.

The refreshment station: Here you can drink warm tea and lose time. ~~~~~ Die Labestation: Hier kann man warmen Tee trinken und dabei Zeit verlieren.

Above the "Hausbergkante" one can easily overtake. But many want to! ~~~~~ Nach der Hausberglante kann man gut überholen. Aber das wollen viele!
