North of the Alps, it is highly endangered due to human intervention in natural habitats. (In Österreich ist die Pflanze noch weit verbreitet. Nördlich der Alpen ist sie aufgrund von menschlichen Eingriffen in die natürlichen Lebensräume stark gefährdet. Winter hike from Hintermoos (886m, near Maria Alm, federal state of Salzburg, Austria) via trail No. 12 to the Steinbockalm on top of the Gabühel (1.636m). From there you can take a cable car back down to the valley. (A dreamlike tour, but given the length and height difference it is a serious enterprise. Because in wintertime it is less easy to walk as on summer days.). ~~~~~ Winterwanderung von Hintermoos (886m, bei Maria Alm, Salzburger Land, Österreich) über den Wanderweg 12 zur Steinbockalm auf dem Gabühel (1.636m). Von dort kann man mit einer Gondelbahn wieder ins Tal runterfahren. (Eine traumhafte Tour, die angesichts der Länge und des Höhenunterschieds allerdings eine ernsthafte Unternehmung ist. Denn im Winter kommt man weniger leicht voran wie sommertags.)
