When the Alpine Rose (Rhododendron hirsutum) blossoms, spring comes to the mountains. This picture was taken yesterday during the ascent from the Inzinger Alm to the Hundstalsee (2.287 m, Tyrol, Austria).

Am schönsten sind dort die Morgenstunden, wenn die Luft noch kalt ist, aber die Sonne schon wärmt. Das bedeutet leider, dass der Wecker um 4 Uhr früh klingelt.

Geheimtipp: Nächstes Jahr Ende Mai die Brenner-Autobahn bis Sterzing, dann zum Penser Joch hoch. Dort soll es beiderseits rot von Almrosen sein. Angeschaut hab ich es mir auch noch nicht, aber gemerkt.
