When the Alpine Rose (Rhododendron hirsutum) blossoms, spring comes to the mountains. This picture was taken yesterday during the ascent from the Inzinger Alm to the Hundstalsee (2.287 m, Tyrol, Austria). ~~~~~ Wenn die Alpenrose (Rhododendron hirsutum) blüht, hält der Frühling in den Bergen Einzug. The calf is just snuffling. It dosn't like alpine roses. Schon Kälber wissen, was ihren Mägen gut tut. Alpenrosen gehören definitiv nicht dazu:

Hairy Alpenrose, only growing on lime rock (preferably within the Tyrolese limestone alps). It is as toxic as other kinds of alpenroses. Bewimperte Alpenrose (Rhododendron hirsutum, Almrausch, Steinrose), die nur auf kalkhaltigem Geröll wächst, aber ebenso giftig ist wie die rostblättrige Alpenrose, die man vor allem auf Almen findet.
