Great photo Paul! I had a black lab/doberman cross that was a rescue dog. You couldn't of asked for a better dog!

Thanks Norm. Sandy's predecessor, Glen, was a black lab cross too and a superb companion. Gone three years now, but still missed every day!

Yes ... I couldn't imagine replacing Sophie after she passed, but the girls have definitely filled an empty spot there.

Now are we talking dogs or grandchildren there? :)

I just have one Granddaughter ... the other four are boys. The girls are Tawny and Drambuie.

Thanks Isablelle - it might possibly have been better with some more things in the background to show the DOF off better, but I think you can see the shift in focus even along the length of his body! :)

Just to say I've been blown away by the response to my first couple of submissions to The Sunday Challenge. I was joking earlier that if they keep attracting interest I might even make it onto Explore with one of them. Then, would you believe I've just been browsing through What's Hot on Explore and seen both of my photos featured.

Have to admit though I'm just a little disappointed not to have finally made it there with a car shot, but they just don't seem to get the same number of hits no matter how good I might think an image is.

Seems there's more interest in cute puppies and big blooms!

Anyway, a big thank you to everyone for their comments, faves and words of encouragement.

A well taken portrait and I'd think your ID of chocolate Lab crossed with a Pointer would be pretty close.

We eventually decided that pointer might have been a Vizsla so given the trend for posh crosses like the labradoodle we now call him a vizlab! ;)
