Thanks all, I had gone out to try and catch the Perseids but it was cloudy and we have terrible light pollution here, then I noticed the lightning and managed to catch a flash. . .

Rather rare, at least to observe. I recall seen one pretty amazing one in the winter, back in 1980s.

Thanks, this was 'first time lucky', the very first shutter press, the storm subsided pretty quickly, and I caught one more, but a less impressive one . . .
