1803 Perizoma alchemillata (Small Rivulet)

1803 Perizoma alchemillata (Small Rivulet)
Geometridae, Larentiinae - Wingspan: 18-22mm.

The smaller of two very similar species, it can be differentiated by the dual indentations in the inner central edge of the white cross fore-wing dual band. There is only one indentation with 1802 Rivulet. This is not a good photograph, but the only example I currently have of this species. It will be replaced when I get a better picture this year.

Not quite as common as the larger species, this species is still well distributed in the UK. In Cornwall, the main flight season is from May to August, peaking in June / July, but occasional specimens may occur in April, September, and October.
