1950 Parectropis similaria (Brindled White-spot)

Geometridae, Ennominae Wingspan: 34-40mm.
A locally distributed species along the south of the UK, and in Cornwall, mostly restricted to the east of the county in ancient broadleaf woodland. Slightly smaller than other members of the group which will be flying at the same time, the distinctive identification mark is the prominent white spot near the outer edge of the forewings, at the trailing edge of a dark band crossing the wing from the leading edge giving rise to its common name.
The flight season given for the UK is late May to June, but in Cornwall this is extended from May to July, with occasional specimens also being seen in April and September.
