This booklet is an advertising giveaway that commemorated the opening of the Panama Canal (also referred to as the "Big Ditch") in 1914.

Cool! I saw one of the steam shovels used to dig the canal in Nederland, Colorado a few years back. I hear it's going to be on display soon at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, N.C. They have it on loan for their Panama Canal exhibit.
