Castell-y-Waun (Chirk Castle)

Castell-y-Waun (Chirk Castle)
Built in 1295 by Roger Mortimer de Chirk, Chirk Castle was one of the chain of fortresses in North Wales. In 1593 the castle was bought by Sir Thomas Myddelton and remained in the family until it was transferred to the National Trust in 1981.

Herzlichen Dank, Tanja!

Ah - yes. A view I know so well. The gardens are looking splendid now. We visited last week, but the weather was a bit dull. I wonder if the tour operator allowed you to take photographs of the wonderful gates of the castle grounds?

Thank you so much, Amelia! The gardens were lovely with the rhododendrons in bloom, I liked them better than the interiour:-) The weather was a bit strange, it stayed dry but felt quite humid...
