Built in 1295 by Roger Mortimer de Chirk, Chirk Castle was one of the chain of fortresses in North Wales. Bench at Hidcote Manor Garden HBM!

The restored Victorian gardens of Biddulph Grange have some interesting cast iron benches- HBM! Sorry about my unannounced absence (surprise visitors, holidays, family visits) - I will be more active again from now but please bear with me, I won't be able to visit all your photos.

Fountains Abbey was founded by Cistercian monks in 1132 and was one of the wealthiest monasteries in Britain until its dissolution in 1539. The ruins were later incorporated into the Studley Royal landscape park and are now managed by the National Trust.
