Bjargtangaviti

The lighthouse at Bjargtangar in its present form dates from 1948. It sits on a high cliff. so the light's focal plane is 60m above the sea even though the building is only 6m high.
This lighthouse on Iceland's westernmost point is also the westernmost building in Europe.
We visited on a very windy day and only saw one solitary puffin on the famous bird cliffs of Látrabjarg, all others had either hidden in their burrows or were out at sea. Going near the cliff edge definitely wasn't an option in the storm;-)

Three lovely PiPs as well.........I love the shot of the Puffin, they're such beautiful birds! The images in the other two PiPs serve to show us how rough the sea actually was, and how sensible you were not to go too near the edge!
An excellent little series Gudrun!
Gudrun club has replied to Keith Burton clubOn the bird cliffs the advice is to look over the edge only lying on your stomach- even in good weather!
