Plane wreck

In 1968 three American Lockheed T-33 crashed near Kangerlussuaq. They couldn't land because of whiteout conditions and ran out of fuel but the pilots managed to save themselves. Bits of wreckage still lie around by the roadside.

Gudrun club has replied to ©UdoSm clubDiese Gegend liegt ziemlich weit im Landesinneren, da herrscht Kontinentalklima mit warmen Sommern und extrem kalten Wintern, deshalb nehme ich an, dass das im Sommer schon lange schneefrei ist.
Gudrun club has replied to Daniela Brocca clubI also like the wider view that shows more wreckage. The details are fantastic and that flash of yellow draws the eye immediately.
I'm amazed that anyone survived the crash............but sadly not surprised that the US Military left the wreckage for someone else to clear up!
Gudrun club has replied to Keith Burton clubWell, not only the US military, the Greenlanders themselves just leave their old stuff to rot and sewage goes into the ocean....

There are a few bits of old airplane wrecks on the mountains of Snowdonia too. Just too far away from a road to be worth the effort of collecting.
Best Wishes,
Peter
