Plane wreck


In 1968 three American Lockheed T-33 crashed near Kangerlussuaq. They couldn't land because of whiteout conditions and ran out of fuel but the pilots managed to save themselves. Bits of wreckage still lie around by the roadside.
1968 stürzten drei amerikanische Lockheed T-33 bei Kangerlussuaq ab. Weil sie wegen eines Schneesturms nicht landen konnten, ging ihnen der Sprit aus, die Piloten konnten sich aber per Schleudersitz retten. Wrackteile kann man noch heute direkt neben der Strasse bewundern.

Very interesting story and nice photos too.
There are a few bits of old airplane wrecks on the mountains of Snowdonia too. Just too far away from a road to be worth the effort of collecting.
