Tepelena - Vjosë

The Vjosa River rises in Epirus in northwestern Greece and flows into the Adriatic Sea in Albania after 272 kilometers.

The course of the Vjosa has so far been spared from overly dense settlement and industrialization. The mouth is also located far from larger towns in an untouched coastal strip. The Vjosa is one of the few larger, natural rivers in Europe. In 2023, the Albanian government declared the entire part of the river lying on Albanian territory to be the Vjosa National Park. However, there is a threat of massive "tourist developments" by US companies near the mouth.
