Schwalenberg - Schloss Schwalenberg

Schwalenberg, today part of Schieder-Schwalenberg, was first mentioned in writing in 1127. Situated on a hill above the village is Schwalenberg Castle, which was built from 1228 to 1231. It has been changed and remodeled again and again over the centuries. In 1627/28 a chateau with late Renaissance elements was built on the site of the castle. One wing of it is still preserved.
