Uta - Santa Maria

Uta - Santa Maria
"Santa Maria" in Uta is just like "Santa Maria di Sibiola", just seen, attributed to French monks/workers from the Abbey of St. Victor in Marseille. Erected in "Provençal" style within the 12th century it does has influences of the more common "Pisan" style.

T that time the area was under Pisan rule. Probably later, when the Spanish had taken over the bell-gable was added. In 1363, when Peter IV of Aragon (aka "Pere el Cerimoniós") was as well King of Sardinia and Corsica, he transferred the owenership of the church from the Knights Hospitaller to the Order of Sant Jordi d'Alfama (south of Tarragona).
