Meung-sur-Loire - Château

The Château de Meung-sur-Loire is a former episcopal palace. Located next to the former collegial church, the castle was the country residence of the Bishops of Orléans.
In 1461 François Villon was imprisoned here. During this time he wrote "Épître à ses amis". François Villon was released as part of a pardon at the accession of Louis XI (aka "Louis XI the Prudent").
