Data for the week ending 8th September 2020, in the form of case rates per 100,000 population in parts of Great Britain. The highest rates are the orange areas, then descending through the three blue shades to the lowest rate being the palest shade.

This is about when the very rapid growth in the case rates really started and coincided with people coming back from holidays abroad and students going back into places of higher education (mainly universities, although the majority of "Freshers' Week" events were largely discontinued in the more socially responsible areas).

Based on relatively large areas, but this does disguise local scale variations in some of the larger zones.
