cvd - Welsh "firebreak" rules

12 Jan 2021 4 2 163
These had an effect, but in my opinion were not sufficient to prevent the "new variant" from gaining some level of infections in the community. The level of household mixing over the winter solstice / new year period will have more than wiped out the gains from that lockdown as can be seen by increased infections / hospitalisations / deaths now being experienced involving the "new Kent variant". Hopefully, the rapid ramping up of vaccinations in the main high priority groups will take some of the sting out of the tail ... Not my Image ; Fair Use & educational purposes

cvd - Newcastle cases : mid October 2020

02 Nov 2020 134
The increase in covid-19 cases in the Newcastle upon Tyne City area during the period late September and up to mid October 2020. Note the information for the "orange" tinted cases. The 'alternative GP address' would tend to indicate students not yet registered with a local GP. Not my Image : Fair Use & public information

cvd - age mapped covid infections 2020

11 Oct 2020 137
UK (specifically England) age mapped covid cases, 05 July to 04 October 2020. Points to note are the rise in 10-19 & 20 - 29 ages brackets, I surmise that these are mostly "students" so actually 18/19 to 21/22 years old and away at universities. With subsequent spreading out into the older age groups in the wider community. Time for another, targeted lockdown before this gets any further out of control. cvd - cases in NE England (second wave)

01 Oct 2020 158
Weekly covid cases 21st June to 13 September in selected areas of N E England, showing a substantial rise from around mid-August. Very Worrying, an indication of a second wave coming before winter. Not my Image : Fair use & public information

cvd - UK; 8th September 2020

12 Sep 2020 119
Data for the week ending 8th September 2020, in the form of case rates per 100,000 population in parts of Great Britain. The highest rates are the orange areas, then descending through the three blue shades to the lowest rate being the palest shade. This is about when the very rapid growth in the case rates really started and coincided with people coming back from holidays abroad and students going back into places of higher education (mainly universities, although the majority of "Freshers' Week" events were largely discontinued in the more socially responsible areas). Based on relatively large areas, but this does disguise local scale variations in some of the larger zones. Not my Image ; Fair Use & public information
