N829BX DC-8-71F BAX Global
in long term storage and minus engines, Mojave 16/10/2009.
I first saw this 40 year old machine at Washington Dulles in October 1979 when it was N8090U of United Airlines. At that time it was still a series 61 and it was converted to series 71 in 1983. Acquired by GPA in 1989 it was registered EI-BZU and leased to Kenya Airways. It also saw service with Time Air Sweden as SE-DLH before returning to Ireland for operation by Translift as EI-BZU. Purchased by AeroUSA Inc. in 1994 it was converted to a freighter and operated by ATI on behalf of BAX Global and I guess this is the end of the line.
