With vague recollections of only a very brief excursion into Cumbria, on a rail day trip to the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, in the 90s, my expectation of Cumbria is of hills, lots of them and often very big. So this made me realize that that was a misapprehension, a generalisation. Sites like this where we share images with people who live in other areas can help fill in all sorts of gaps in our knowledge. Thanks for filling that one!
But if this is a mountain stream, are we up one or down where it flows through the valley?

Many thanks for the comments. You’re never too far from the hills when in Cumbria, particularly Western Cumbria. And the rain! This view is looking upstream, and empties out into the River Mite, about a mile behind the camera. The line of the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway is just out of shot to the right.
